Movie Madness: Electric Dreams

Once in a while I will focus on one of my favorite movies. This time, I'm going to focus on the great 80s movie, "Electric Dreams." It's a story about this guy, Miles who gets a computer and the computer comes to life. The computer is named Edgar and he's voiced wonderfully by Bud Cort. Miles & Edgar fight for the love of a woman played by Virgina Matson.
It's a forgotten favorite of mine. :)

First Post In a While

I just thought I'd update this blog for those who are interested.

I've had some things happen to me the past few months that have been a pain in the butt. I have gallbladder issues and fibroids.

On July 22nd, I'm having my gallbladder removed, which is making me happy. I've had a lot of problems with my gallbladder. I've had my share of "attacks" which haven't been fun. But hopefully once it's out I won't have too many issues. I'm a bit nervous about the surgery, but I think it should be pretty smooth.

Also, my old computer died on me. I was trying to upload some pictures from my digital camera to the computer and POOF it just went. I now have a sleek new Dell Inspiron with 6GB of RAM and 750GB hard drive space, which is a HUGE improvement from the 250GB of hard drive space I had. I now can download music, upload pictures and videos and other things. I'm thinking of getting an external hard drive though as backup, but I'm going to ask that for a Christmas present.

I'm also pondering on making a podcast. I'm not sure what though, maybe of some of my favorite things. I've been interested in starting a podcast and I'm enjoying watching the behind the scenes production of Twit Live, which is Leo Laporte's wonderful site. He has some interesting podcasts like The Daily Giz Wiz, which Dick DeBartolo, net@night with Amber MacArthur and a few others. Also, I LOVE Amber's own podcat, CommandN, which is great. I LOVE Amber. She and Will (her cohost) doa wonderful job as hosts, and Amber's brother, Jeff does great tips.

I will try my hardest to update this place. I am thinking of adding some more music videos and some music things, since it's something I like. I will also keep you updated on my gallbladder journey I will be taking.

Grapes Anyone?

If you're a fan of grapes you should go to Naples, NY on September 27th & 28th. That's when they have their annual Grape Festival. I've been to it a couple of years ago and I found it really cool. This year, my family is going to Naples, but after the festival. Here is the website for it if you're interested: Grape Festival
At the festival, you can get grape pies. These things are sooo good.

I think it has potential, but until they start featuring add ons, I doubt it's going to work. I know Firefox can be a memory hog at times, because of all the add ons and plug ins, but you need them sometimes. I will keep Chrome, because it's fast, but I'm going to keep using Firefox for now.

Interesting

The last few days have been really fun and interesting. I experienced a severe thunderstorm on a boat, I saw hot air balloons, I took a yoga class and I spent some quality time with my grandma, aunt, cousin and Mom at the mall. The time has gone way too fast. I don't want it to end. But reality comes back tomorrow when I go back to Buffalo. I'm looking forward to going back, but I wish I could stay a few more days longer.

Today, an old family friend came over. He's a hot air balloon pilot and he's an interesting character. I haven't seen him in a while and it was great seeing him. I found out he lives near me in the Buffalo area. So now I'll have to look him up and "bug" him. *lol*

My Mom and I are planning on seeing "Mama Mia" later this afternoon. I heard a critic bash it totally, but I don't give a shit. A lot of critics don't know what they're talking about. They usually bash movies I tend to like. I don't get them, they criticize movies just to get money. I'd rather go see a movie and if I like it, I like it, and if I hate it, I hate it. I don't need to get a review from some twit who hates a certain movie because they don't like the actor or director.

The Taste of Buffalo

This weekend went waaay too fast for my taste, probably it's because I was busy. I went both yesterday and today to the Taste of Buffalo. I had a good time both days. The only thing I had a complaint about was they really should figure out how to get a special place for those who are waiting in line. I felt like I was waling in a sea of people and it didn't make my claustrophobia do well at times. The organizers should make a pathway for people to get to the places without having to dodge people. I know in some areas, it's hard to do that because it's a small area, but there must be a way.
But that was a minor issue for me, it didn't mess with my good time. Yesterday, I had a great time, even though it was near 90 with high humidity. I didn't use my tickets on much food, because I discovered the cooking deomonstrations they were having. I had a nice sample of this citrus brind pork loin that was to die for. And I also had this wonderful chicken and pasta dish and cake with kiwi and strawberry topping from Tops (a local grocery store) Culenary School and a Nutella crepe from Chef Shayna (can't remember her name) who was on season 4's Hell's Kitchen. She was great and I'm planning on going to her restaurant, Steel Crazy Cafe soon. I also met Mr. Food, who is one of the sweetest men I've met. He gave me his autograph and kiss on the cheek.
Today, I had some great bread salad from the Connecticut Culenary Institute. It was really good and very easy to make. I'm so glad the Taste of Buffalo now has the cooking demonstration, and I hope they have them next year. Also, today, I met some local TV personalities which was great.
The Taste of Buffalo is a wonderful experience. I do have to warn people if you don't like crowds, you probably don't want to go. *lol*
Now I need to get ready for my trip to my Mom's and the family get together. I'm going to see my aunt and uncle from TX, who I haven't seen in six years and my cousin from CO who I haven't seen in a couple years. :D

A Long Awaited Update

Well, it's been a long time since I have updated this blog. I thought today I would.
I have had a pretty decent holiday weekend. I can't believe it's almost over. I had a great Fourth of July. Went on a picnic by myself and had a nice time. I watched fireworks out my window on Friday night and watched the CBS coverage of the Boston Pops Fourth celebration.
In about nine days, I'm going to my Mom's for a nice break. I love the city, but I love going to the country. I'm originally from the country, and I loved growing up there, but I like the convenience of being in the city. I do enjoy going to the country from time to time, because the city can be stressful. I know when I go to my Mom's I'll be sleeping better. I find I sleep better when I am at my Mom's.
I can't wait to see my cousin from Colorado. She's seven years younger than me, which was a disadvantage growing up, because she used to bug me. But now that she's older I find that she and I are closer. She's so much fun to hang out with. I wish she lived closer though.
My aunt (my cousin's Mom and my Mom's sister) got a Prius. I hope I get to ride in it. I think the Prius is a cool car. So now my Mom has a Mini Cooper and my aunt has a Prius. Both are good cars to save gas. *lol*

In Search of: .O.Rang

I've been going nuts looking for stuff from this band. They are Lee Harris and Paul Webb from Talk Talk with some help from Beth Gibbons of Portishead and Matt Johnson of The The and other sessions musicians.
I used to have their CDs, but during some money trouble I traded them in, and I've been looking for their albums: "Herd of Instinct" and "Fields & Waves" ever since. They have a very techno sound and I loved their music.
If anyone knows of where to find their material or has them on CD or .mp3 let me know. Thanks.

This is my first post on Blogger.
A little about myslef. My name is Molly, and I live in Buffalo, NY. I'm originally from Wellsville, NY, which is two hours southeast of Buffalo.
I'm visually impeired. I have some vision in my left eye and I am totally blind in my right eye. I have a prosthetic eye in my right eye. I can see things far away, but I read with large print.
I enjoy a lot of different music, but I mainly listen to 70s and 80s New Wave, Classic Rock, Celtic and "bad" 70s Pop/Disco. I'm a huge fan of The Damned, XTC, Talk Talk and The Beatles. The very first rock concert I ever went to was The Who back in 1989, but my favorite concert of all time has to be Paul McCartney at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
I'm also a huge fan of British sitcoms. I don't know, but British humor has always intreged me. Some people don't "get" the British humor, but I do. I'm also into British Sci-Fi like Torchwood and Dr. Who.
